Plum Colored Cabinets

little interruption

Eigentlich bin ich ja immer noch in meiner Blog-Sommerpause, obwohl man vielleicht mittlerweile eher von Herbstferien sprechen kann. Auf jeden Fall, natürlich I switched between once and again and again my computer and browse through my favorite blogs. It is known and there is often a link to the next and on and on, and so I have a few days ago and the blog of Ellen Giggenbach discovered. The I was so excited that I wanted to show him you absolutely, blog break or not.

Actually I am still on my blog-summer break, although in the meantime it is more an autumn-break compared to the weather here. But blog break does not mean that is a blog-reading-break and so I still switch on my computer to browse my favorite blogs. And you all might know how this is, one blog leads to another and finally you are far away from where you started. By this way I discovered one blog which i enjoyed so very very much that I wanted to share it with you in any case, so I interrupt my blog break now for the blog of Ellen Giggenham .

Maybe you know Ellen Giggenbach already, but for me their pictures were completely new. There are moreover no drawing or painting but paper cuts, and I like so much caused by the clean lines and bright colors. She herself says so, that it is strongly influenced by the picture books, textiles and ceramics from the fifties, mixed with a bit of folk art. To me they remind me very well the patterns and colors of the 60s, 70s, to the colorful dishes that time there were, the flowered sheets and wallpaper, just to the Prilblumenzeit. I also see right before my eyes a cozy kitchen with red-white-checkered curtains, a colorful meadow flowers on the table and bowls full of crisp apples and pears, red-cheeked. The smell of freshly baked in the air and shelling peas when the mom, butter milk and potatoes, an airy cheerful home.

Maybe you know Ellen Giggenbach already, but to me she and her art were completely new. Her pictures are not paintings but paper cuttings, and I so much love the clean and straight outter lines and her happy and bright colours. She says that she is much influenced by the design of the Fifties, the fabrics, children books and ceramik of this years, mixed with old folk art, but I am also much reminded of the 60´s and 70´s with the brightly coloured china of that time, the flowered bed covers and wallpapers. When I look at her pictures I immediately had to think of a cosy kitchen with red and white checked curtains, a vase filled with simple natural flowers from a meadow and bowls with fresh apples and red cheeked pears. The smell of freshly baked cakes in the air, mummy is peeling peas, buttermilk and potatoes in their jackets, a light crisp clean and happy home.

Unfortunately, I can make none of their original images, but maybe you can get published some time here in Germany and their postcard, that would be nice. In small colorful wooden picture frame I had after only found the perfect spot for it.
I hope that you enjoy her pictures as good as me who want to learn more about themselves, here there is an interesting interview . (And of course I asked beforehand for permission, if I can show three of her works here.)
I'll do a little holiday and I hope that I find in the time and a good replacement for Bloglines, which is namely to 1 October closed and ich bedaure es sehr. Falls jemand einen Tipp für mich hat wär ich sehr dankbar dafür.
Ansonsten noch eine schöne Zeit, bis später wieder!
Unfortunately I cannot afford one of her originals, so I much hope that one day her post card will be available in Germany, too. I could imagine them so very well in brightly coloured wooden frames and of course I already know exactly where to hang them then.
I really hope you enjoy her blog and her art as much as I do, if you are interested to read more about her, here is a lovely interview with this much talented woman. (And of course, if you may wonder, I have got her kind permission to show 3 of her here pictures!)
I am back on my break and I hope during this time I will then get a good substitute for Bloglines, Which Will be closed down forever on 1st October, any advice of you to continue keeping up with my favorites blogs will be much appreciated.
Have a great time, we will meet again in October.
